Places to Visit in Turkey’s Aegean Region

Turkey, which makes all four seasons live to its fullest with its unique beauties, continues to offer views from heaven in every region and to make you feel the smell of history in every period. In this article, I will give you information about the places to visit in Turkey’s Aegean Region.

  • The Ancient City of Ephesus: The House of Virgin Mary, located 9 km from the ancient city within the borders of the Temple of Artemis in the Selçuk district of İzmir, is a place where Christians perform their pilgrimage.
  • Pamukkale Travertines: Denizli’s Pamukkale offers you a visual feast as white as cotton with thermal waters. In addition, I recommend you to see the Cleopatra Pool and the Ancient City of Hierapolis, which are located in the same places.
  • Bodrum Castle: It is a magnificent construction built on an island by the Knights of Saint John in the 15th century, located in the Bodrum district of Muğla. The stones of the Halicarnassus Mausoleum were used in the construction of the castle. This castle is also known as the Underwater Archeology Museum and I highly recommend you to visit it.
  • Ölüdeniz: Located in the Fethiye district of Muğla, with its magnificent sea and scenery, which has a very ideal temperature for swimming, it takes people away from themselves and takes them to eternity. After enjoying this beauty, you can easily see the Butterfly Valley by boat.
  • Dilek Peninsula National Park: Located in Aydın’s Kuşadası district and named after Dilek Hill, it is 1237 m. I wouldn’t want you to go without visiting this National Park, which offers a beauty enough to take you to fairy tale lands by allowing you to see a unique greenery and animals in nature while taking you into nature with its observation terraces at a height of its height.
  • Cunda Island: Located in Balikesir’s Ayvalık district, it is a quiet island known for its famous delicious fish and gummy ice cream. Taksiyarhis Church, Moonlight Monastery and Lovers Hill are also in this region and you should definitely see them.
  • Kaz Mountains: Located between Çanakkale and Balıkesir, these mountains will fill your lungs with clean air. You can camp and travel here. Apart from that, I would like you to see Sarıkız Tomb, Adatepe Village, Yeşilyurt Village, Zeus Altar, Adatepe Olive Oil Museum, Hasanboğuldu and Sütuven Waterfall.
  • Gallipoli Peninsula Historical National Park: Çanakkale Martyrs’ Monument, which was declared a National Park after the Battle of Çanakkale in Eceabat, is a museum and cemeteries where the bodies of British, Australian, New Zealand and French martyrs are buried. By visiting these places, you can feel more deeply what happened in history.
  • Saklıkent Canyon: Located in the Seydikemer district of Muğla, this natural wonder canyon is 18 km long and 200 to 600 m. are among. You can walk from the piers to reach the canyon up to a certain level. If you plan to go further, I would not recommend it because it can be difficult and dangerous to walk through cold waters.
  • Şirince: In this village, which is located in the Selçuk district of İzmir and made its name known with the prophecies of the apocalypse for a period, old Greek houses were restored by Sevan Nişanyan and their beauty was brought to light again and became attractive for many tourists. This wonderful village, which I definitely recommend you to visit, is one of the places worth seeing.
  • Çeşme: I recommend you to visit Ilıca Public Beach, Altınkum Public Beach, Boyalık Public Beach, Delikli Bay, Diamond Cove, Alaçatı Public Beach and fun evenings and beach clubs in this cool and refreshing town in İzmir.
  • Ulubey Canyon: Located in Uşak, the canyon is 77 m long. You can immerse yourself in the unique and endless beauty of nature while watching this canyon, which is the second largest canyon in the world, from the glass terraces located there.
